So, in my email today from RESOLVE (The National Infertility Association), I was surprised to hear that on yesterday’s edition of The View, the ladies dedicated the entire hour of the show to discussing infertility!  Yay Barbara WaWa!  The show included celebrity couple Bill and Guiliana Rancic, a fertility specialist, and three personal stories from everyday people.  Barbara Walters chimed in about her very private three miscarriages that eventually led to her adopting her daughter, Joy discussed an ectopic pregnancy that almost claimed her life, Elisabeth explained that she had to become gluten-free to conceive, and Sherri Sheppard was very open about her costly IVF and IUI treatments.  Of the entire hour, Sherri was the only minority to give a personal account.
So..um, ABC producers, you couldn’t find any minorities struggling with infertility? Â Or did you look? Â Were you, as so many others, convinced that just discussing the topic should be enough, without giving thought to the fact that minorities involved in the battle of infertility have sometimes an even harder trial?
And Oprah, thanks for bringing Celine on the other day. Â She’s been a true spokeswoman for infertility and assisted reproduction. Â Thanks also, through Oprah Radio, to Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete for discussing infertility on their Oprah Radio channel.
Anyway, stepping off of my soap box.

Great to hear that the infertility movement is picking up a little steam! Â I’ll do my best to keep bringing light to the brown side of things.
