2025 Mosaic Ball Recap: A Night of Advocacy, Artistry, and Affirmation

On June 6, 2025, something sacred happened.

The Broken Brown Egg hosted its second formal event, The Mosaic Ball, at the Penthouse Hyde Park, and it was more than a gala—it was a declaration. A night where style met purpose, where stories met the spotlight, and where our community came together not just to celebrate, but to be seen.

From the moment guests arrived at the venue, decked out in their stunning interpretations of the “fly and formal” theme, there was a palpable energy in the room. It wasn’t just about the fashion (though the fashion did give Met Gala energy 😍), it was about showing up for each other—for reproductive justice, for mental health, for healing.

Our emcee, Shartia “Love” Jones brought warmth and rhythm, guiding the evening with compassion and charm. Chef Lashon Burrell of Cajun Cafe Chicago gave us some delicious bites while the crew from LVLS Creative captured it all, ensuring that the beauty of the night lived beyond the ballroom. Guests enjoyed a live painting display from Jerrold “Just Flo” Anderson followed by a chance to bid on it.

As we celebrated our 2025 award recipients, guests mingled, cried, laughed, and lit candles, both literally and metaphorically.

And while only one grant could be awarded this year, reading every single application reminded us just how widespread the need is—and how committed we are to growing the support we offer.

💫 What We Raised

Thanks to your generous sponsorships, ticket purchases, and donations, we not only hosted an unforgettable evening—we secured another opportunity to directly support a family on their fertility journey.

But this is only the beginning. The Mosaic Ball is designed to grow. Our dream? To become the Met Gala of fertility and reproductive health—elevating advocacy to artistry and inviting everyone to take part in building a better, more equitable future.
