I did not sleep last night.
I did pray, however. And the most poignant message that came to me in that time of meditation was this: “I MATTER.”
Today, I stand with other bloggers for the #DayOfLight campaign to shed light on depression. Infertility is a quiet force within the African American community, and so is depression and mental wellness. Let’s turn the lights on.
We hold names sacred in the infertility community. They are our little secret smirks at fate. They symbolize the victory we’re hoping for. They are precursors to rainbows. A horizon we can barely see, but one we are trying desperately to get a view of.
No matter where this road is headed at this point, be it a massive fundraising campaign to raise adoption/IVF funds, or even the decision that our two-person home is quite enough, I have to be willing to look at the map.
And so do you.
You’re stronger than the sedative you may want to place on your dreams.
Many times I’ve gotten private messages from those who wonder if I personally have a spiritual take on my own situation. They ask me if I have a relationship with God. I do. A discussion on faith, and the results of my hysteroscopy.
