About the Project
The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) Fertility Program brought together patients and patient advocates, clinicians and fertility specialists, researchers, and health care decision-makers to examine barriers to fertility care and opportunities to reduce disparities in infertility treatment.
The program grew out of SWHR’s September 2021 Fertility Roundtable and led to the development of two educational resources: the Women’s Resource Guide to Fertility Health Care and the Clinician Resource Guide to Fertility Health Care. The guides were created to improve awareness, education, and navigation of fertility health care for both patients and providers.
BBE’s Role
The Broken Brown Egg’s founder, Regina Townsend, MLIS, served as a contributor to SWHR’s Fertility Working Group alongside patients, advocates, clinicians, researchers, and reproductive-health organizations.
The published Women’s Resource Guide to Fertility Health Care formally acknowledges Regina Townsend and The Broken Brown Egg among the Fertility Working Group contributors who supported the development of the resource.
About the Resources
The Women’s Resource Guide to Fertility Health Care was developed to help patients, women, and families navigate fertility care—from reproductive life planning through infertility evaluation, treatment options, and navigating care.
Its companion Clinician Resource Guide to Fertility Health Care was designed to support health care providers in helping patients navigate fertility planning, evaluation, and treatment using a shared decision-making approach.
